Brand Identity for Tech Startups That Actually Lasts

Scroll through any 'top SaaS websites' list and the sameness is striking: geometric sans-serif, a purple-to-blue gradient, an abstract product screenshot. Distinctive branding is the cheapest moat you can build, and almost no one does the work.

    The Three Layers of Identity

    • Verbal — how the brand sounds in a support reply and a keynote
    • Visual — a palette, type system, and shape language that could not belong to anyone else
    • Behavioral — what the brand refuses to do, in product and in market

Startups obsess over the visual layer and neglect the other two. A distinctive logo on a generic voice is still a generic brand.

You don't own a brand until a customer can quote it back to you without seeing the logo.
